How Much Does Commercial Photography Cost for Your Business? Real 2026 Prices

Real prices for commercial photography in 2026: 6-150 RON per product photo, 500-1,000 RON minimum session, 2,500-5,000 RON per day. Full guide for businesses: products, restaurants, real estate, team.

There's a classic moment in the life of every small business. You have the product, you have the website, you have the Instagram page. And someone says: "let's take some photos." And pulls out their phone.

Three months later you're wondering why the competitor with the weaker product is selling more. Look at their photos, then at yours, taken on the fridge glass or the kitchen tiles, with your shadow in the frame. There's your answer.

We're not joking for the sake of it. An online customer can't touch the product, can't smell it, can't walk into the location to see what it's like. All they have are the photos. A bad photo doesn't say "small, friendly business," it says "not serious," however unfair that might seem.

So let's get to it: how much does it cost to do this properly?

The short answer, for the impatient

In Romania, in 2026, commercial photography breaks down roughly like this:

  • Per photo: from 6 RON for simple product shots on a white background, up to 120 - 150 RON for creative shots, professionally edited and retouched. Market average for higher-end products: 20 - 60 RON per final frame.
  • Per session: the minimum session with a commercial photographer starts at 500 - 1,000 RON and usually covers 1-2 hours of work.
  • Half a day (4 hours): 1,500 - 2,700 RON, editing included, averaging 25-30 final images.
  • Full day (8 hours): 2,500 - 5,000 RON, usually with no cap on final frames.

Yes, the ranges are wide. Photography is like haircuts: there's the neighborhood barbershop and there's the salon where you walk out a different person. Both cut your hair. The difference shows afterward.

Why do prices vary so much? Here's what you're actually paying for

This is where a lot of people get stuck: "it's just pressing a button, how much can that button cost?"

The button is the shortest part of the whole process. You're paying for the setup (lighting, background, arranging the products, which for a glossy bottle of oil can take longer than a portrait), you're paying for the equipment (a professional studio setup costs about as much as a decent used car), and above all you're paying for the editing. Post-processing often takes longer than the shoot itself: cleaning up imperfections, correcting colors, cutting products out onto a transparent background for the site, resizing for every platform. At 30 final frames, that's real hours of work you never see.

Complexity matters too: a t-shirt on a white background is one thing, jewelry reflecting the entire studio is another, and a food platter that has to look appetizing before the ice cream melts is a whole different sport.

Prices by type of photography, because not every business needs the same thing

Product photography (online stores, catalogs). From 6 - 12 RON per frame for volume packages on a white background, up to 100 - 150 RON per frame for creative campaign imagery. A 1-2 hour session with around 20 products costs about 600 RON. If you run an online store, these are the photos selling on your behalf at 3 a.m.

Culinary and HORECA photography (restaurants, cafés, guesthouses). Restaurant sessions start at 1,500 - 1,900 RON in major cities, and a full shoot of an accommodation, interior and exterior, starts at around 3,500 RON. It might sound like a lot, but those photos end up on the menu, on delivery apps, on Booking, and on social media, and they keep working for years. The schnitzel photo taken under the kitchen's neon light keeps working too. Against you.

Real estate photography. Around 100 RON per room, or packages of 500 - 650 RON for a whole apartment, with 10-15 final HDR frames. A listing with professional photos gets dramatically more views than the one with a photo taken from a corner of the room with the toilet in the foreground. You know the listings we mean. Everyone does.

Team and corporate photography. Team portraits, shots from the office or the production floor, images for the "About Us" page. Sessions from 700 RON per hour, on location. These are the photos that turn a website from an anonymous brochure into real people the customer wants to work with. Faces sell better than any copy, no matter how well written (and we write copy for a living, so it hurts to admit that).

Social media photography. Monthly photo-content packages, usually paired with a posting strategy. Pricing here is negotiated by volume, but the idea is simple: 30 posts a month need images, and phone photos have limits the algorithm picks up on immediately.

"Fine, but I have a 5,000-lei phone, it takes amazing photos"

It does. Honestly, it does. Today's phones are small miracles. And for spontaneous stories, behind-the-scenes moments, day-to-day content, the phone is genuinely the right choice: authentic, fast, human.

It's just that commercial photography isn't about the camera. It's about light, composition, consistency, and editing. A photographer doesn't just have better gear, they have 10,000 hours of "I know exactly where this light needs to sit." Your phone takes good photos when conditions are good. A professional takes good photos even when the product is glossy black on a black background, exactly when your phone throws up its hands.

The rule of thumb we give clients: the phone for everyday content, the professional for anything that sells directly: website, menu, catalog, paid ads. Because yes, ads too: you can have the best targeting in the world, but if the image in the ad looks amateur, your ad budget is pouring into a bucket with a hole in it.

How not to waste your money: 4 tips before you book a session

  • One: make a shot list first. What photos do you actually need, for the site, the menu, the ads? A planned session delivers twice as much as a "we'll figure it out on the spot" session, for the same price.
  • Two: ask for clear usage rights. Ask where you're allowed to use the photos: website, social media, print, ads. Some photographers charge differently by usage type, and it's better to find out beforehand, not after you've printed 500 flyers.
  • Three: ask for formats for every platform. Square for the feed, vertical for stories and TikTok, horizontal for the site. Cropping everything yourself from a single format means awkwardly cut photos everywhere.
  • Four: think in years, not in lei. A 1,500 RON session that gives you 30 images used for 2-3 years works out to a few lei a month per image. Your monthly coffee habit costs more than the image bringing you customers around the clock.

The bottom line

Commercial photography in Romania costs between 6 and 150 RON per frame, between 500 and 1,000 RON for a minimum session, and between 2,500 and 5,000 RON for a full day of production. For most small businesses, an investment of 1,000 - 2,500 RON once or twice a year covers all the imagery that actually sells.
